Job Details

Do you have a proven ability to carry out teaching and research in food biopolymers or related topics?

The University of Leeds is an internationally-focussed University that provides all our students with an outstanding education and experience and at the same time undertakes cutting-edge research of high quality, impact and significance. Increasing knowledge and opportunity in powerful combination is a defining feature of life at Leeds.

This ambition is now underpinned by a major new investment plan by the University to deliver further academic development addressing the challenges of education and research across a broad range of disciplines.

The School of Food Science and Nutrition is the oldest such University department in the UK and is currently undergoing an exciting investment in staff for growth in the area linking fundamental food science research with the aim of understanding the mechanisms underpinning diet and health interactions.

The School invites applications from outstanding academics of high potential who are able to demonstrate a growing track record in research, student education and academic leadership.

We are seeking a Lectureship in Food Biopolymers to deliver world class research and inspirational teaching and supervision in a top School in a research-intensive UK University.

As Lecturer, you will carry out research and teaching and contribute to academic leadership in the field of biopolymer science with specific emphasis on the physico-chemical and biological properties of biopolymers (polysaccharides and proteins) that underlie the development of innovative approaches and applications in food, nutrition and health. You will develop collaborative research across the School, University and nationally and internationally.

With a vision and drive to develop a prestigious internationally competitive research portfolio as well as a passion for undertaking research-led teaching you will make a significant impact on the performance, stature and profile of research and student education at the University of Leeds.
