Faculty of Science - Information Services

The Faculty of Science at the University of Auckland is the largest and most highly ranked science faculty in New Zealand. The Science IS Team (approximately 20 staff) is responsible for supporting and maintaining Science’s fleet of machines (3,000+) used by staff and in lab environments. This team covers a wide range of hardware (Windows, Mac, Linux), O/S (XP through to Windows 8.1, MacOS, RedHat), desktop & peripherals and software consumed by Faculty end users.

We have an exciting permanent opportunity for a motivated and experienced IT professional to consult, design, build, integrate and support IT solutions to individuals and teams specifically involved with leading edge Research initiatives, within the Faculty of Science.

To be successful in this role the ideal candidate will:

  • Have a long and successful track record in delivering small to medium-scale IT solutions that meet specific local needs, and where appropriate, integrate with centrally-provided commodity services (e.g. file storage)
  • Have Experience in continuous integration tools and environments
  • Demonstrate project management techniques and appropriate aspects of the SDLC
  • Have Strong reasoning and analytical skills
  • Have experience and knowledge in these technologies:
    • Encryption / Authentication Services including SAML
    • Visual Studio.NET, C#, ASP.NET MVC, WCF
    • SQL Server
    • Windows Services, IIS
    • JQuery / JavaScript / CSS / AJAX / XML
    • LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) technologies stack from application architecture and system infrastructure
