Job Details

  • Opportunity for a strategic and innovative leader
  • Drive a globally ranked and accredited Faculty
  • Located in Auckland, New Zealand

  • Auckland University of Technology (AUT) is New Zealand’s second largest university, focused on providing outstanding student outcomes, and graduate success in a context defined by impactful research and industry connectivity.

A key differentiator for the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law at AUT is the extensive engagement with business, the professions and the community, creating an outstanding student experience through relevant and engaged learning and strong research collaboration.

This position will give the Pro Vice-Chancellor (PVC) and Dean the opportunity to strategically lead and manage the academic and research portfolios of this Faculty, providing vision and working collaboratively across the three Schools and several Research Centres. Based at the AUT City campus in central Auckland and reporting to the Vice-Chancellor, the PVC and Dean is a member of the Strategic Leadership Team and responsible for over 200 academic and professional staff and 6,000 students.

We are seeking an outstanding individual with a Doctoral qualification, preferably in a business-related discipline as the incumbent also assumes responsibility for the position of Head of the Business School within the Faculty. An established record of academic excellence in a relevant discipline and demonstrated experience in a senior management capacity including transformational and innovative change, is essential. As a skilled influencer, highly adept at building relationships and networks to further enhance the Faculty’s reputation, the PVC and Dean will have a strong ability to inspire, motivate and influence.

The successful candidate will also require gravitas and credibility in the wider business sector, with a strong achievement orientation and bold insight into the future of this Faculty. Key to success in this position will be the ability to work collaboratively and seamlessly across the Schools, and more widely across the university, together with a deep awareness and understanding of the interface between the academic context, business sector and wider community within New Zealand, and globally.
