Professor of Information and Communication Technology

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

To provide overall leadership of the Administration of all ICT Academic programmes. He/she will deliver the research agenda that informs the local ICT sector, and ensure the delivery of all ICT programmes in compliance with the internationally accredited body, Institution of Engineering and Technology of the UK (IET).      

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the overall daily operations of the ICT programmes
• Work closely with other Academic units in fostering an entrepreneurial culture
• Ensure academic quality, record management, and preparation of annual budgets
• Monitor and report on programmes, compliance with the IET, academic standards, and regulations of the University
• Evaluate effectiveness of programmes and make recommendations for improvements
• Engage in the following Teaching responsibilities: curriculum enactment; course material development; grading and assessment; supervision of field and clinical experiences; and guiding Masters and Doctoral level dissertations
• Conduct research; publish findings in professional journals; make presentations at prestigious conferences; stay current in related discipline through involvement in professional organizations; and secure external funding
• Deliver appropriate training as and when required by relevant stakeholders
• Build key partnerships with local, regional and international stakeholders in the Information and Communication Technology  industry
• Participate in various committees at the University as well as the wider community. Such participation may be via conducting workshops, seminars, public lectures and professional consulting services to government and industry 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE  

• A Ph.D. in an ICT related field (e.g. Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics or Communications Engineering) from a recognized and accredited University
• A minimum of fifteen (15) years’ experience in a Senior Management level in an ICT related organisation
• A minimum of twelve (12) years’ experience at a Senior Level actively involved in teaching and research at an accredited University
• Demonstrated excellence in academic and administrative leadership at an accredited University
• Demonstrated ability to work in and lead research clusters with faculty from diverse fields and domains across the University
