ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER

PEROMNES POST LEVEL 10

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will be responsible for providing:

  • Student and academic related administration of the Honour’s in Engineering and Technology Management programme;
  • Maintenance of postgraduate student data base;
  • Liaison with relevant support services, students, other academic departments, departmental staff and external resources;
  • On-going maintenance of quality standards for ECSA accreditation visits;
  • Arrangements for departmental meetings/colloquia/seminars, etc;
  • Departmental and office administration.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicable office administration diploma;
  • At least three year’s relevant experience in the duties mentioned above, performed at a tertiary institution;
  • Skills in the use of MS Office programs and web based systems.

 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

  • Computer proficiency;
  • Language skills in the languages that services are offered;
  • Organisational abilities;
  • Accuracy;
  • Communication skills;
  • Interpersonal skills;
  • Adherence to due dates.

 

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

  • BA or equivalent degree;
  • Relevant student administration experience at a tertiary institution;
  • Experience in the use of web based educational systems.

 

PLEASE NOTE: All shortlisted candidates may be required to participate in relevant skills assessments as part of the selection process.

The total remuneration package for this position ranges from approximately R264 552.00 to R317 325.00   as determined by UP policy guidelines. (These amounts include the University’s contributions to standard UP benefits, namely provident fund, group life and funeral cover, but exclude contributions to medical aid, as the latter varies per employee.) UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
