Merck is currently seeking exceptional LC-MS/MS Bioanalystis for positions within the Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics and Drug Metabolism (PPDM) Department located at our South San Francisco site.

As a Senior Scientist, you will work with a collaborative and cross-functional team of scientists from both PPDM and Discovery Research. The responsibilities will involve designing, planning and executing new approaches for the quantitative analysis of exogenous and endogenous compounds in preclinical studies using advanced analytical technologies. The candidate will have a unique opportunity to develop innovative bioanalytical approaches in support of Merck's pipeline dedicated to developing novel therapeutic agents.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Developing robust sample preparation approaches and LC-MS/MS methods for quantitative analysis

*
Analysis and interpretation of LC-MS /MS data

*
To accomplish the above, the successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills in a team environment

Qualifications

Required Education / Work Experience:

*
BS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related field with (7) years experience in Bioanalysis

*
MS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related field with (4) years experience in Bioanalysis

*
Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or met all requirements of a Ph.D. by June 2017

Required Experience:

*
Understanding of the drug discovery and/or development process and PPDM science (e.g. PK calculations, data interpretation and how data is used).

*
Established experience in quantitation of multiple analytes (i.e. xenobiotics, biomarkers) in samples from ADME, MOA, PK/PD, and pre-clinical studies via LC-MS/MS. Proved hands-on processing of pre-clinical and ADME samples (e.g. blood, urine, CSF, etc.) using purification techniques.

Proficient in upkeep, maintenance and trouble shooting of instruments and developing technical expertise.

*
Proficient in software tools, informatics, and data management related to specialized area of work.

*
Demonstrated ability to analyze MS data and basic understanding of pharmacokinetics parameters.

Preferred Experience:

*
Excellent verbal and written communications skills and ability to work in a team based environment

*
Ability to multi-task in a highly dynamic environment and flexibility to work in a fast-paced team in a professional and pleasant manner is a necessity

*
Ability to design experiments, interpret and track results, and utilize this information to enable assay development

*
History of publication in peer-reviewed journals
