Senior Assistant Officer (25 hours per week) (post level 12)

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Create billing invoices.
  • Capture data and student marks.
  • Communicate with the students and staff.
  • Compile all timetables for the Department.
  • Co-ordinate study material and study guides.
  • Assist with the administration of module evaluations.
  • Administer the assessment of Masters theses and dissertations.
  • Manage the annual faculty prizes.
  • Administer the selection processes.
  • Capture departmental research outputs.
  • Maintain and update student records.

Inherent requirements:

  • Diploma or degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Human Settlements, Development Studies or a related field.
  • Required competencies:

    • Intermediate computer skills in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, PeopleSoft and RIMS, as well as the ability to learn new systems and ICT tools.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent administrative skills.
    • Ability to communicate and interact with students and staff in a professional manner.
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to function with ease in the University’s parallel-medium and richly diverse working environment.

    Recommendations:

    • Two (2) years administrative experience at a tertiary institution.
    • Knowledge of PeopleSoft and RIMS.
