Job Details

Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge?  Do you have an established background in bioprocess engineering, biocatalysis or related process or chemical field?  Do you want to further your career in one of the UKs leading research intensive universities?

As a Research Fellow in Process Research and Development you will support the development and transfer of bioprocess technology from an academic to industrial environment. You will join a project that is supported by the Industrial Biotechnology Catalyst (Innovate UK, EPSRC and BBSRC) in partnership with the University of Leeds, Warwick, Biome Ltd and CPI Ltd. The project builds on existing biotransformation work at the University of Warwick, with the aim of developing and translating a continuous flow bioprocess using lignin to produce aromatic materials that will be used in making sustainable polymers.

You will lead the activity of designing, and testing both existing and novel continuous reactors to carry-out efficiently the desired reaction and product separation, supporting the collaborating company to commercialise new sustainable polymer products. This research is leading-edge and expected to lead to high impact publications, patents and industrial application, which makes this position an ideal training opportunity for an industrial or academic career.

Working in the Institute of Process Research and Development (iPRD) you will join a vibrant, growing and widely recognised Institute of around 40 academics, PhD students and post-doctoral fellows, with a strong focus on collaborative working with chemical engineers from industry to develop more efficient processes.

You will have a PhD inbioprocess engineering, biocatalysis or related process or chemical field and will need excellent communication skills, the ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
