Job Details

Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have a background in psychosocial oncology and patient-reported outcomes research? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research intensive Universities?

(Secondments will be considered)

You will work with Dr Penny Wright and Professor Galina Velikova on a Macmillan Cancer Support funded research grant: The Comprehensive Patient Records for Cancer Outcomes (CPR). This focuses on the impact of co-morbidity at cancer diagnosis and the development of late effects following cancer treatment, to better understand the true costs of cancer to both the health service and the patient.

You will collect and analyse Patient Reported Outcome (PRO) data from cohorts of cancer patients and matched controls and linking these with routine data collected within primary, secondary and tertiary care to generate the true ‘comprehensive’ personal and health service costs of cancer. You will identify and explore the resolution of the ethical and practical issues of including matched control cases for PRO data collection.

You will be an enthusiastic, talented and motivated early career researcher. You will have a first degree and PhD, or be close to completion, in psychology or health sciences, nursing, with a strong background in quantitative and qualitative research methods and experience of conducting research. You will work closely, interactively and collaboratively with research team in an interdisciplinary setting, so you will need excellent communication skills, the ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
