More than a century of development has turned it into a comprehensive research-oriented university that holds much influence both at home and abroad. As a well-grounded university with distinctive features and enormous potentialities, it has long been recognized as first-class in China. It’s also one of the first universities funded by “Project 211” and “Project 985”. The annual research funding in 2016 is 4.1 billion, and ranks the second place among all universities in China.

Hangzhou has long enjoyed a good reputation for its excellent living conditions, environments and beautiful sceneries. It’s regarded as one of the most livable cities in China.
