Job Details

You will be responsible for the co-ordination of Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) functions to ensure re-accreditation of the Aga Khan University Hospital. Also provide assistance and expertise in institution wide quality audits and initiatives such as ISO 9001:2008 QMS and QI projects.

Responsibilities

Specifically, you will be responsible to:

  • Co-ordinate the activities of the JCIA Task Force and Multi Function Teams to ensure that the hospital is on track in complying with JCIA Standards.
  • Execute functions and responsibilities of Secretary of JCIA Task Force and Hospital Ethics Committee.
  • Disseminate all JCIA related information that is essential for staff and faculty using various innovativestrategies such as: JCIA preparation checklist, JCIA website, JCIA Pocket Cards, Directory of Language Interpreters, and write up for AKHUWAT.
  • Facilitate Multi Function Teams in carrying out their assigned responsibilities by attending MFT meetings as required; facilitating in preparing the required documents; policies; guidelines etc.
  • Assist in holding the chapter specific weeks and follow up on the tasks assigned to MFTs.
  • Organize and co-ordinate JCIA & ISO (Integrated) mock surveys.
  • Act as JCIA and ISO resource person and provide all necessary technical support and assistance.
  • Assist departments to achieve JCIA & ISO standards; participate as JCIA representative at various meetings such as Safety Committee, Pharmacy & Therapeutic Committee, Hospital Ethics Committee, and various hospital committees on invitation basis.
  • Coordinate the following activities related to JCIA Accreditation Survey:

 

  • Coordinate with JCIA International Office.
  • Facilitate in development of accreditation survey agenda.
  • Disseminate accreditation survey information.
  • Set up Office for JCIA Surveyors.
  • Coordinate with relevant faculty and staff for functional interviews, conferences, and debriefing session.
  • Liaise between the Surveyors and hospital management for all JCIA accreditation related activities.
  • Provide necessary material to department heads and all required services to JCIA Surveyors.
  • Assist CQICC, JCIA Task Force, JCIA Assessment team as a regular member.
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct quarterly integrated JCIA & ISO audits of clinical and non-clinical departments.
  • Assist CQICC, JCIA Task Force, JCIA Assessment team as a regular member.
  • Provision of awareness, education, training on desired quality improvement agendas.
  • Provide technical assistance on various international (East Africa, Syria, and Afghanistan) quality initiatives (Quality Colloquium and gap audits etc.)
  • To design and conduct JCIA related educational training sessions for staff, Interns, Residents, Fellows, and medical faculty.


Requirements

  • Master’s Degree, preferably in Hospital/ Business Management or Nursing Sciences.
  • At least 10 years experience with a reputable heath care institution. 
  • Familiarity with quality assurance practices and systems.
  • Excellent supervisory and management skills.
  • Exemplary commutation and interpersonal skills. 
  • Computer with proficiency mandatory, especially in MS Office.
  • Excellent balance between task focus and skill focus.
