Library Applications Administrator, Libraries and Learning Services, University of Auckland, City Campus

This is a temporary, full time position until the 23rd December, 2017.

We are looking for an experienced IT professional to work as part of the Library Applications & Development Team, with the primary function of providing technical support for our cloud based Alma Library Management System (LMS). You will be also be administering other Library applications, including providing server side support for both Linux and Windows based systems. This is an exciting and fast paced role working in a busy team. You will be providing excellent technical services to our clients and enjoy the challenge of technical analysis and troubleshooting. You will be a good communicator as this role will require frequent liaison with different teams within the Library, understanding their requirements and administering changes to the LMS as required. A strong component of the role will be the creation of custom reports for Library staff and the on-going scheduling and maintenance of these via the LMS.

You will have strong SQL and DBA skills preferably in MS SQL server environments, a knowledge of shell scripting and experience with supporting both Windows and Linux systems. You will also have experience managing Apache or Tomcat environments as well as a good working knowledge of TCP/IP networking standards. Programming and web development experience would be highly desirable including Java, JavaScript and HTML.

A knowledge of the MARC and Dublin Core standards would be advantageous but not essential, as would previous experience with supporting Library Management Systems, particularly Ex Libris applications.

You will hold a Computer Science Degree or equivalent with a minimum of two year’s work experience in an IT environment. Experience working in a library environment, particularly providing technical support, would be highly advantageous.
