Job Details
This is a unique opportunity for a qualified general practitioner interested in developing a career in primary care dermatology research to join the successful Centre for Academic Primary Care. The post-holder will work with Dr Matthew Ridd, integrating themselves into existing, on-going dermatology work and, as their experience and knowledge grows, developing their own research proposal, culminating in an application for a fellowship to undertake a doctorate. They will continue their clinical practice alongside this post, which is research-focused, but opportunities for teaching may arise.
The successful candidate will specifically want to undertake primary-care focused dermatology research, but there may be overlap with other research themes in the Centre, such as organisation of care (particularly evaluation of new models of care and the study of preventable hospital admissions), mental health, and child health (especially infectious diseases). There is a strong emphasis on high quality methodology, both qualitative and quantitative. The successful applicant will find no shortage of potential collaborators within the School of Social and Community Medicine, the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, other Faculties within the University, the University of the West of England, the local CCGs, the regional UKCRN network and the NIHR School for Primary Care Research.
For informal enquiries contact Dr Matthew Ridd by telephone on 0117 331 4557 or by email at m.ridd@bristol.ac.uk
