As an Associate Principle Scientist you will be responsible for, but not limited to:

- Chemistry Capabilities & Screening (CC&S) is seeking a highly skilled scientist to fill the position of Senior Scientist and join our team of experienced and accomplished colleagues. Situated in the Cell Sciences group within Screening & Compound Profiling (S&CP), the individual will have responsibilities, including:
- Develop and optimize cellular assays to support Hit-Finding Campaigns
- Coordinate generation of cell-based reagents (internally and/or externally) to support cell-based screening
- Collaborate with project teams to develop physiologically relevant cell-based models to enable better differentiation of molecules to increase the quality of drug candidates and speed of discovery
- Champion new technologies and capabilities within the Cell Sciences group and provide coaching and leadership from the laboratory
- Act as liaison on projects between research sites (NJ, PA, MA and CA), including travel up to 10% of time
- Maintain a strong, external scientific reputation for the S&CP department through publications & presentations

Qualifications

Education:

- PhD in a life sciences discipline (Biochemistry, Immunology, Molecular Pathology, Cell Biology, etc.) AND/OR B.Sc./M.Sc. with at least ten years of experience in industry.

Required:

- Demonstrated hands on experience and knowledge in cell line development and mammalian cell culture
- Experienced in the development and optimization of cell-based functional assays
- Experience growing cells in 3D cultures (spheroid and scaffold-based technology)
- Experienced in working with primary cells to support end-point assays
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to execute within a matrixed organization

Preferred:

- Experience with high throughput compound screening formats, laboratory automation, and data analyses and management
- Experience with using automated cell culture systems (i. e. CompacT)
