The role

We are searching for a talented professional to lead to the Application Engineering Team. ITS at The University of Auckland supports one of NZ’s largest and most complex IT environments with close to 50,000 end users.

The Application Engineering Team brings a unique mix of operational and development talent to the University IT environment. This blend allows us to bring to bear technology to great effect, delivering high quality solutions to real business problems, keeping our staff and students happy. The team aspires to grow the use of the DevOps approach, with collaboration, integration, and automation playing a key role in how the organisation will deliver solutions faster, with a better fit for purpose, and with more reliability.

The team works with a wide range of technology, and specialises in web technologies, integration, Java applications, Linux systems, and application delivery platforms. The team is growing their cloud, systems automation, and application hosting capabilities.

As our Application Engineering Team Lead you will be responsible for leading and mentoring the team, improving their capability and performance, and interacting with other groups to play a proactive and valuable role within the University at large.
