Digital Development Manager Libraries and Learning Services, University of Auckland, City Campus

We are looking for an experienced professional to lead our Library Digital Development team.

The position will be responsible for leading the development and support of a complex environment of digital library applications and selected enterprise research management software; this includes oversight of the relationship with external vendors and selected open-source communities as well as being responsible for internal relationships and service delivery agreements with ITS in regard to key applications and services. Overall this role manages a high-performing, technically experienced team working to meet the challenges and opportunities that Libraries & Learning Services and the University provide.

The ideal candidates will have:

  • A qualification or experience equivalent in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems.
  • Considerable development experience, covering a range of languages, platforms, technologies, and functional domains.
  • Experience in complex/large bespoke software projects.
  • Effective people management and motivation skills are essential as is a proven ability to plan and manage projects within an environment of continuous change.
  • Knowledge of scrum and other agile methodologies is an advantage.
  • Any knowledge of university libraries and the research environment would be highly valued but not essential as we would expect the successful applicant to gain this knowledge over time.
