We are looking for an experienced analyst/programmer to join a fast paced and dynamic team with key responsibility for the design, development and on-going management of software solutions to underpin the delivery of new library & research support services, and to enhance existing systems.

In this role you will liaise with key Library, ITS and Research Office staff, internal and external software developer communities, and related national or international collaborative forums to ensure new technologies are successfully integrated with Library and enterprise systems and reflect current international standards and practice.

You will have substantial skill in coding and software integration with enterprise systems and system administration – particularly Unix / Linux, and be experienced with the complete software development lifecycle. You will also have a good knowledge of current trends, developments and standards for software development and an appreciation of both open source and proprietary software solutions. Strong experience with JavaScript, Java and PHP will be essential with knowledge of Python or Ruby advantageous.

You will hold a Computer Science Degree or equivalent with a minimum of three years work experience as an analyst/developer. Familiarity with the open source repository application DSpace or the institutional research management system Symplectic Elements would also be advantageous.

Any knowledge of university libraries and the research community would be highly valued but not essential as we would expect the successful applicant to gain this knowledge over time.
