The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at The University of Auckland invites applications for the position of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in the area of Construction Management. Applications are welcome in the general area of Construction Management, but preference may be given to candidates with experience in at least one of the following: construction project management, construction innovation, construction law and contract management, construction engineering and management, information technology and computer-based applications (artificial intelligence, computer modelling, soft computing, etc.), production management theory (e.g. lean production, agile production), planning and control, decision-making, disaster management, and cost engineering.

The University of Auckland is New Zealand's pre-eminent research-led University. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is the largest departments in the Faculty of Engineering, with approximately 40 academic staff, 1,000 undergraduates and over 150 postgraduate students. We provide BE (Hons) degree programme in Civil and Environmental Engineering, together with a range of postgraduate taught courses and research based degrees at masters and doctoral levels.

The Department has an established strong reputation in the traditional fields of the discipline, being ranked 38th in the World according to the QS World Ranking 2017.

Our research activities broadly concern productivity improvement, construction innovation, construction procurement, dispute resolution and negotiation, lean construction, computer and virtual applications in construction management and tsunami/earthquake evacuation, disaster management and resilience, health and safety. We have collaborative links with research groups and industry within New Zealand and across the world.

The appointee will work as part of the Construction Management Group in the Department and will be required to develop research collaborations with researchers both within and outside that Group.

The appointee will be research-focussed and be required to undertake high quality research, researcher supervision and teaching in their area of specialisation. They will be committed to the development and delivery of high quality curricula and courses and have excellent communication skills. They will also contribute to the wider activities of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and perform service roles for the department, faculty or university.

The successful applicant will have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant area. Additional research or industrial experience is desirable. They will also have a demonstrated ability to conduct research, supervise postgraduate students, publish in high quality journals, obtain research/industry funds, and engage with industry and the wider community.
