Biomedical Scientist (BMS) registered practitioner (Maternity Cover)

Job Purpose

As a BMS (registered practitioner) the post holder will be expected to complete a specialist portfolio in Immunology and to gain the training and expertise necessary to achieve specialist practitioner status with the Institute of Biomedical Science and the Health Profession Council (HPC). A record of progress in training must be maintained as required by the HPC and Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS). The objective of this training and registration is to ensure competence in, and understanding of, the skills and application of knowledge necessary for the delivery of a fit-for-purpose medical laboratory service analysing and reporting on, blood samples and other body materials to achieve the objectives of efficient and effective patient care, and effective resource management within the department. The post holder will be required to undertake their responsibilities in all sections of the department.

Person Specification

Biomedical Science degree, or equivalent qualification, acceptable to the IBMS/HPC for State Registration.
Completion of the IBMS training log book or registration portfolio.
State Registration with the Health Professions Council.
Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in accordance with HPC requirements

Experience:
12 months experience in a medical laboratory (preferably immunology).
