The School of Social Policy at the University of Birmingham is seeking to recruit to five full-time or part-time doctoral research scholarships to commence September 2017.

Two scholarships of £9000 and three of £7500 per year are available. All scholarships include the UK/EU nationals level annual fee (£4,180 at current rates) and an annual research training and fieldwork support grant of £750. The remaining funds form a maintenance grant.

The successful candidates will have previously undertaken research training as part of an MA Social Research or equivalent programme, or will have demonstrated their research capacity through study and / or professional activity and be willing to undertake further research training.

We invite proposals in any field of research within the disciplines of the School of Social Policy (Social Work; Social Policy, Sociology and Criminology; and/or Health Policy and Health Management/Leadership). Proposals could also be aligned to one of our five cross-cutting research centres:
 

• CHASM
• Family Potential
• Institute of Mental Health (new centre in the process of being established)
• IRiS
• TSRC

Those currently involved in postgraduate research studying with the School of Social Policy or those who have been offered a place are eligible to apply for these scholarships.
