    The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, comprises of five schools, and our mission is to improve the health and care of individuals and communities in South Australia, our region and globally through world class research, learning and practice.

    Programs taught out of the faculty train medical practitioners: surgeons, dentists, nurses and psychologists and other health professionals. The faculty boasts one of the largest concentrations of leading researchers, academic teachers and clinical titleholders working across the areas of health.

    The School of Psychology is one of those five schools and offers undergraduate and postgraduate level education in psychology. Research areas in the school spans several core areas of psychological inquiry, utilising both quantitative and qualitative methodologies. Strengths in the school are in the areas of health and clinical psychology, cognition and brain, and social and organisational psychology. The school offers an intellectually stimulating environment in which to work in a prestigious and vibrant University community.

    The successful candidate will be teaching undergraduate psychology students in areas such as cognitive psychology, language and perception, statistics and quantitative methods and potential course co-ordination.

    Salary: (Level A) $65,894 - $89,425 or (Level B) $94,135 - $111,788 per annum*.

    *Academic level will be determined based upon successful candidate's level of experience and qualifications.

    Superannuation: An employer contribution of 9.5% applies.

    Term of position: This fixed-term contract is available immediately until December 2017. The position is available on a 1.0FTE full-time basis but with the ability to reduce down to 0.8FTE.

    Position requirements

    To be successful at Level A you should have:

    • A PhD or equivalent higher academic qualification, or close to completion
    • A commitment to excellence and demonstrated experience in teaching undergraduate psychology students
    • Ability to teach ­­­­cognitive psychology, including for example, language and perception
    • Ability to teach statistics and quantitative methods, including using R and SPSS
    • High-level communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.


    To be successful at Level B you should also have:

    • A PhD or equivalent higher academic qualification
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Experience in course co-ordination (desirable).
