Job Details

Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have an established background with actinomycete natural products? Do you want to further your career in one of the UKs leading research intensive Universities?

Applications are invited for a BBSRC NPRONET-funded postdoctoral scientist to join Dr. Ryan Seipke’s research group. The programme will involve understanding the molecular basis of acyltransferase domain promiscuity in a recently identified biosynthetic system. You will join an exciting new research group studying various aspects of microbial natural product biosynthesis and regulation and as part of this role, you will have the opportunity to undertake natural product heterologous expression studies, site-directed mutagenesis and acquire skills in analytical LC-MS. The longer-term goal of the project will be to develop a platform for diversification of polyketide therapeutics.

With a PhD (or close to completion) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology or related discipline, you will have practical experience genetically manipulating actinomycetes. You will have excellent communication skills, with evidence of a good publication record or the potential to achieve one.
