VACANCY: SPEECH-LANGUAGE THERAPIST (HALF-DAY POSITION)

Minimum Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Communication Pathology (Speech and language pathology) or an appropriate degree in Speech therapy and Audiology or Speech Therapy

  • Registration with the HPCSA as a Speech Therapist and Audiologist or as a Speech Therapist

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a speech therapist, thorough knowledge in the field of child development


Responsibilities:

  • Therapeutic intervention

  • Inputs for multidisciplinary training opportunities


Job Specification

Essential Competencies:

  • Ability to work independently and creatively in a multidisciplinary setting

  • Experience and an interest in working with children and adolescents within a family focused preventative approach and across a spectrum of disorders and treatments

  • Ability and experience to work from evidence based approach

  • A passion for service delivery and an interest in growing business of the IPW

  • Good communication (verbally and written)

  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)

  • The ability to use e-mail for teaching, studying and communication

  • The ability to work well independently and also in a team

  • Good time management and the ability to work well under pressure

  • Demonstration of language proficiency and in order to function optimally in the various multilingual environments of the NWU


Other Competencies:

  • Good knowledge of related professional disciplines

  • Knowledge in specific learning disabilities
