Job Details

Location: Bristol, UK

A postdoc position in mechanical cell competition is available for a highly motivated and talented researcher with extensive experimental expertise in mechanosensing and mechanotransduction in mammalian cell culture systems, to join the group of Dr Eugenia Piddini in the University of Bristol (http://research-information.bristol.ac.uk/en/persons/eugenia-piddini(d9edf159-92ca-4b42-8bd6-6dbe1de23195).html)

Proven experience in manipulating cellular compaction with cell stretchers and micropatterns is necessary.

The goal of this project will be to investigate how mechanical sensing is amplified and modified in mechanical loser cells to result in hypersensitivity to crowding.

Applicants should hold a PhD in experimental Cell Biology, have extensive lab experience with mammalian cell lines and with primary cultures of tracheal epithelial cells, transfection, cell line generation, cell growth and proliferation assays, cell competition assays and flow cytometry, and have experience with CRISPR knock-out techniques.

They should also have detailed knowledge of the regulatory and signalling pathways controlling mechanosensing and cell competition, and of the methodologies required to stretch and compress cells using micropatterns and cell stretchers.

For formal enquiries, please contact: Dr Eugenia Piddini Phone: +44 (0)117 331 2054
Email: eugenia.piddini@bristol.ac.uk

Closing date for applications is: midnight on Sunday 28 May 2017.
