Job Details

Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have an established background in Mathematical Physics? Do you want to further your career in one of the UKs leading research intensive Universities?

As Research Fellow in Mathematical Physics you will join a project, funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council which aims to make a thorough mathematical study of the topological solitons arising in models of multicomponent superconductors, and formulate experimentally verifiable tests of their existence. The project will involve both analytic and computational work in nonlinear classical field theory.

You will work in close contact with Professor Martin Speight, and in collaboration with an external partner, Professor Egor Babaev (Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden), and will be expected to take regular extended visits to Professor Babaev's Theoretical Physics research group in Stockholm.

You should have A PhD in Mathematics, Theoretical Physics or a closely allied discipline. You will work closely, interactively and collaboratively with the project team in an interdisciplinary setting, so you will need excellent communication skills, the ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.

To explore the post further or for any queries you may have, please contact:

Martin Speight, Professor of Mathematics
