SENIOR ADMINISTRATIVE CONTROL OFFICER (STUDENT ADMINISTRATION)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will co-ordinate the effective and efficient handling of undergraduate and post-graduate student administration affairs in the Division Student Administration  of the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences with specific reference to:

  • Managing student administration for undergraduate and post-graduate students including, but not limited to:
  • Applications and the admission of undergraduate and post-graduate students (new, returning and transferring);
  • The processes involved in the registration of students;
  • Arrangements regarding examinations, examination results and graduation ceremonies;
    • Liaising with a broad spectrum of relevant stakeholders (e.g. prospective students, applicants, registered students, finalists, graduates, supervisors and external examiners);
    • Delivering an exceptional and client-friendly service to students and all stakeholders involved in the student administrative processes at the University;
    • Quality control of the undergraduate and postgraduate yearbooks, the Course Catalogue and prerequisites of all modules in the Faculty.

     

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • B-degree or applicable three-year tertiary qualification with at least 6 years’ experience in student administration in all the main processes within student administration;
    • Proven management and supervisory experience in academic student administration;
    OR

    • Matric  with at least 10 years’ experience in student administration in all the main processes within student administration;
    • Proven management and supervisory experience in academic student administration.

     

    REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

    • Appropriate language and communication skills to ensure effective interaction with diverse clientele across cultural boundaries within and outside UP, both on national and international level;
    • Organisational skills;
    • Management Skills;
    • Interpersonal and conflict management skills;;
    • Function accurately with patience and the ability to perform under pressure;
    • Computer literacy with a broad knowledge of and experience in the use of MS Office packages, the internet, GroupWise and PeopleSoft;
    • The ability to work independently, but to also function effectively within a team;
    • The ability to maintain confidentiality.

     

    PLEASE NOTE: All shortlisted candidates may be required to participate in relevant skills assessments as part of the selection process.

    The total remuneration package for this position ranges from approximately R 428 229.00 to R 577 968,00  as determined by UP policy guidelines. (These amounts include the University’s contributions to standard UP benefits, namely provident fund, group life and funeral cover, but exclude contributions to medical aid, as the latter varies per employee.) UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
