Faculty of Engineering - Civil and Environmental Engineering

The University of Auckland is New Zealand's pre-eminent teaching and research-led University. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is the largest department in the Faculty of Engineering, with approximately 40 academic staff and approx. 600 undergraduate civil engineering students in years 2 to 4 who are specialising in structures. The Bachelor of Engineering degree is ranked no 6 in the world in terms of employer recognition and the person in this position plays a key role in maintaining that ranking.

We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic structural engineer with an established history of excellence and practical experience to deliver high quality teaching of practical design in the area of structural engineering. The appointee will lead, plan and deliver lectures, laboratories, tutorials and the assessment of students in order to provide our undergraduate students with excellent preparation for their future careers in structural engineering. The appointee will work from the Faculty of Engineering, located at 20 Symonds Street, Auckland City. 

The applicant will have a comprehensive and diverse record of consulting engineering experience at a very senior level, with demonstrated teaching skills and commitment to junior engineers and preferably to undergraduate engineers. They will have membership of IPENZ or the equivalent international organisation or the necessary qualifications to gain membership of IPENZ. A BE or BE(Hons) in Civil Engineering is essential.

This is a part time position for 32 hours per week.
