Are you an experienced laboratory technician with high level mechanical engineering skills for specialised applications and conventional machine shop practice? Are you looking for a new and exciting challenge as part of a world leading Medical Engineering Institute in one of the leading Mechanical Engineering Schools in the country? Do you want to join a team supporting world class research activities?

We are looking for a professional and proactive individual to join our technical team to support research and general activities in mechanical engineering-related laboratory facilities within the Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering.

Providing specialised advice to a diverse range of students, academic and research staff, you will act as a point of expertise.Your role will include setting up, servicing and maintaining a range of sophisticated experimental simulation equipment and apparatus (including but not limited to: Hip, Knee, Spine and Friction Simulators; Single and Multi Station Rigs) with accurate records to verify this, and the design and manufacture, using conventional precision machine shop practice, of specialised medical and biological experimental equipment.

You will be a highly organised individual capable of developing expertise for a wide range of mechanical and medical engineering applications. Holding a minimum of a mechanical engineering-based BTEC level 4 or HNC, or equivalent qualification, you will have practical laboratory experience in a mechanical engineering laboratory or mechanical engineering related environment, gained in either academia or industry, and a track record of developing competence in the use of complex equipment quickly.
