Job Details

I am currently working with a leading multi-discplinary consultancy looking to recruit principal geo-technical engineers, with a focus in design, within their offices across the UK.

This is a great chance to work on a variety of exciting projects, whether it be in the construction of governmental and industrial buildings or airports across the world, providing an opportunity to be interested in your work and broaden your profile to open doors for the future.

The role itself will also allow you the chance to take on responsibility within the company, as you will contribute to the operational delivery of projects, management of client relationships as well as the team itself. This is therefore perfect for those wanting to quickly make the transition into a managerial role in the near-future.

Duties:

  • Manage engineering designs in line with client brief and/or other project requirements
  • Review and provide feedback on designs produced by more junior staff
  • Monitor resourcing requirements for projects and provide feedback to Associates / Partners
  • Under the guidance of a more experienced manager, contribute to the day-to-day management and control of projects (including commercial and financial management, project management, and compliance with QA, environmental and health and safety procedures)
  • Provide training and coaching to more junior staff, including acting as a mentor to support those pursuing membership of professional institutions
  • Attend internal and/or external marketing and business development events as appropriate
  • Contribute to the preparation of submissions and fee bids
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients

Requirements:

  • MEng/BEng in Civil Engineering, with an MSc in Geotechnical Engineering and/or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering
  • Evidence of progress towards achieving recognition as a Chartered professional
  • Proven technical competence and experience
  • Some experience of representing a business or team at internal and external meetings
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team, and to lead and motivate others
