The School of Modern Languages at the University of Bristol seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Sociolinguistics in either German or French from 1 September 2017. Applications are accepted from scholars with expertise in any field of German or French sociolinguistics. It is envisaged that an appointment will be made at Lecturer b level (Grade J).

The successful candidate will be an expert in the field of German or French sociolinguistics. In addition to delivering undergraduate teaching in this area to students across the School of Modern Languages and collaborating with existing staff in linguistics to teach School and cross-departmental units, s/he will be a member either of the Department of German or of the Department of French and will design and teach units for that Department. S/He will also contribute to German or French language teaching.

Grade: Lecturer B, Pathway 1, Grade J

Salary: Starting salary £36,001- £40,523 per annum

Timescale of appointment:

Long-listed candidates will be notified on or about 7-8 June 2017 and will be invited to submit for consideration two pieces of written/published work which will be required no later than 12 June 2017.

Short-listed candidates will be notified on or about 19 June 2017 and invited to interview. They may be invited to give a presentation as part of the selection process.

Interviews will be held on the week commencing 26 June.

Anticipated start date: 1 September 2017
