Job Purpose
Reporting to the College of Social Sciences Partnership and Development Manager, the postholder will provide hands-on, practical support for academic staff in the creation of video, interactive activities, and other online materials in support of the School Online Learning Strategy. The postholder will also assist faculty with the use of classroom-based learning technologies such as lecture capture and voting systems.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Educated to first degree level
- High level of expertise in the use of video for education, including lighting, sound, filming and editing
- Experience of multimedia content delivery using a Virtual Learning Environment
- High level of expertise in the use of e-learning production software such as Articulate Storyline or Camtasia, and knowledge of associated standards such as SCORM
- Good understanding and experience of web technologies such as HTML5, CSS and JavaScript.
- Some understanding and experience of graphic and web design principles
- Knowledge of pedagogy and best practice principles under-pinning the use of rich media and learning technology in education
- Extensive experience and skill in the use of the technology required for day-to- day administration and teaching and learning in higher education (for example, all mainstream web browsers, Microsoft Office, Skype, web seminar tools, tablets, smart phones, webcams, microphones)
- Ability to manage own time, and to schedule and prioritise tasks
- Experience of delivering small group and one-to-one training
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for a wide variety of situations
