This is a 6 month Co-op program to begin in March 2017.

Position Overview - Basic Functions and Responsibility:

- Work assignment will be project related, with a deliverable in mind.

- Gain project experience by regularly attending portfolio meetings and reviewing broad spectrum of facility related projects; put into a schedule with deliverables; physically monitor projects and report status (e.g. spend to date and current forecast).

- Assist projects through the funding approval process. Receive training in SAP (Merck’s financial information system) and become proficient in the "project manager" role as it pertains to the funding approval process.

- Work closely with our financial support team to develop budgets and manage actual spend.

- Assist with the metrics for Operating Scorecard. Most of the work we have is straightforward. Have co-op review and comment: compiling the data, interpreting results and preparing for the staff meeting.

Example projects:

- Migrate the Project Portfolio Tool from Excel/Primavera to alternative portfolio management software.

- Develop a project status report tool / management system to update the portfolio.

Primary Activities:

- Evaluate area requirements and plans for associated capital/expense improvements. Perform administrative duties such as job audits, computer system audits and safety/housekeeping inspections.

- Keep abreast of new developments in area of responsibility, and recommend changes to improve service, operation, reliability, efficiency, and state-of-the-art applications.

- Maintain effective organizational skills and implement appropriate communication and planning.

- Work with minimum supervision and exercise independent judgment in the daily performance of his/her duties.

- Responsible for learning and adhering to all Merck Safety, Health, Environmental, GMP and regulatory requirements (as required by task).

- Perform necessary administrative duties to insure maintenance of records, reports, and associates tasks.

No housing will be provided. Travel to and from the plant site will be the responsibility of the candidate.

Qualifications

Education:

- Required: Currently enrolled in a minimum of a Bachelors program in Engineering, Business, or related field.

Required Experience:

- Must be available for a period of 6 months beginning in March 2018.
