SENIOR ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

PEROMNES POST LEVEL 5

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent is the line manager of several Project Managers in the Project Management Division of the Facilities Management Department. The incumbent will also be managing some major construction and/or refurbishment projects him/herself.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

B-degree in project management, architecture, engineering or the building sciences with 10 years applicable experience.

 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

  • Experience with large building projects is essential;
  • A valid driver’s licence.

 

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

  • Experience as a constuction project manager;
  • The ability to think analytical and innovative;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Experienced leader, manager and organiser;
  • Relevant experience in the higher education environment;
  • Knowledge of good building practice, systems and construction;
  • Knowledge of the SANS 10400 and other applicable regulations;
  • Knowledge of the JBCC 2000 or other similar building contracts.

 

The total remuneration package for this position ranges from approximately R622 842.00 to R793 866.00 as determined by UP policy guidelines. (These amounts include the University’s contributions to standard UP benefits, namely provident fund, group life and funeral cover, but exclude contributions to medical aid, as the latter varies per employee.) UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
