RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbents will be responsible for:

  • The facilitation of learning in undergraduate and postgraduate modules, in both contact and distance education modules;
  • The development and co-ordination of programmes and modules;
  • The supervision of postgraduate students’ research;
  • Being involved in and managing projects.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • MEd in Science, Mathematics and Technology Education or a relevant MTech degree;
  • Experience in programme and module development and co-ordination;
  • Relevant teaching experience
  • Knowledge of the TVET sector and/or industry;
  • Candidates who have not yet obtained their PhD degree, have to enrol for PhD degree by January 2018.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • Proven administrative and organisational abilities;
  • Computer literacy and project report writing skills.

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES

  • Experience in distance education service delivery;
  • Experience in service provision in diverse contexts;
  • A publication record;
  • Supervision experience;
  • Teaching experience in the Engineering field (N5 or N6 level / NCV Level 2 to Level 4);
  • A relevant trade qualification (Trade Test);
  • Experience in work integrated learning (WIL) and the block-release procedure as utilised in the TVET sector for the acquisition of WIL;
  • Knowledge of the TVET sector and industry;
  • A working knowledge of SAQA with regard to apprenticeships and learnerships.

 

The all-inclusive remuneration package for this contract position will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines.
