Job Details

This is an exciting time for the Faculty of Arts. We are not resting on our laurels as New Zealand’s leading Faculty of Arts and our aspirations continue to be on a global scale.

The role

The role is responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing strategies that support and enhance the student experience from orientation to graduation. The Faculty of Arts’ commitment to students goes beyond the classroom and this role is key in providing a platform for our students' success - academically, socially and culturally.

Your affinity with the perspectives and aspirations of students will allow you to harness the leadership capabilities of students to help contribute to a positive, inclusive and stimulating environment for staff and students.

Experience working in a leadership role with students either preparing for a tertiary environment and/or enrolled at university, as well as a strong understanding of Maori and equity issues in New Zealand is required.

Your proven ability to work collegially and in partnership with stakeholders and internal customers will be second nature.  You will be able to build successful partnership with academic colleagues and gain an understanding of key academic drivers. You will also be able to gather, monitor, analyse and present data to inform the success of student support and retention strategies.

Reporting to the Director of Faculty Operations the ability to retain a strategic focus whilst delivering on initiatives will be an important asset.

Finally, as a member of the Faculty’s senior professional management team you will also provide leadership for the development and engagement of the faculty’s professional staff and participate in annual strategic planning activities with the Faculty’s Executive.

This is a unique opportunity to provide an inspirational leadership role to develop graduates who are successful, globally confident citizens.
