Research Associate in Electrical Power Systems

Job Purpose

The research fellow will work on power systems protection and control of power grids using real-time power grid simulator, establish test bed for cyber-physical power grid systems, and develop test scenarios and validating cyber security methods and algorithms.

The successful candidate will be expected to actively interact with industry project partner

Person Specification

• A PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline or about to complete a PhD degree.
• A good first degree (First or 2.1) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in ICT technologies applications in power systems and smart grids.
• Essential experience in using real-time power grid simulator, developing testing bed for power system control, communications and computer networking, and interacting with power industry partners.
• Desirable experience in using FPGA programming for power system simulations and control
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and work to tight deadlines.
• Good project management skills.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
