Research Fellow in Mathematics

Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have an established background in Pure/Applied Mathematics, Mathematical Physics or a related subject, with a substantial symbolic computational component? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research intensive universities?

You will work within an EPSRC funded project, ‘Exact solutions for discrete and continuous nonlinear systems’, with Principal Investigator, Professor Alexander Mikhailov. This is part of a joint project with a group in the University of Kent, Canterbury, and aims to give an exhaustive description of soliton solutions and solutions of the initial value problem for Lax integrable systems corresponding higher rank Lie algebras and automorphic Lie algebras.

Working within the active Integrable Systems Group in the School of Mathematics (ranked within the top 10 in the REF 2014), your work will involve developing new algebraic methods for construction and classification of exact solutions of Lax integrable systems and study their continuous limits.

You will have a PhD in Pure/Applied Mathematics or in Mathematical Physics or a closely allied discipline with a substantive algebraic or algebra-geometric component, including symbolic computations.
