The School of Biomedical Sciences is a distinguished centre for teaching and research in the academic disciplines of Anatomy, Developmental Biology, Physiology, Pharmacology and Pathology. The School has over 40 full-time research and teaching staff and is one of the largest Schools of this type in Australia. It plays a vital function at UQ in serving as the link between the activities of research only UQ institutes (Queensland Brain Institute (QBI), Institute of Molecular Bioscience (IMB), Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN)) and the broader research goal of translating research into clinical practice.  Our diverse and state-of-the-art research provides an exciting environment for national and international research fellows and higher degree students. In addition to its graduate research programs, the School teaches into the postgraduate medical program (MD), and to undergraduate students in a wide variety of courses in Science, and Health and Behavioural Sciences.

The role

The School of Biomedical Sciences is seeking to engage a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer, to contribute substantially to both research and teaching within the Discipline of Molecular and Cellular Pathology. The appointee will be expected to undertake research in an area relevant to the discipline and consistent with the broad research directions of the School. The appointee will also be expected to teach pathology within the Doctor of Medicine program and other undergraduate and postgraduate programs of the School. The appointee will also be expected to contribute to the further development of the School’s teaching and research programs.

The person

Applicants should possess PhD qualifications in a relevant discipline. The successful appointee will have demonstrated excellence in research and teaching (undergraduate and postgraduate).

Remuneration

There are up to two positions, full-time, continuing appointments at Academic Level B or C as commensurate with the candidates qualifications and experience. The remuneration package will be in the below ranges, plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17%.

  • Academic Level B: $92,142 - $109,419 p.a. (total package will be in the range $107,807 - $128,020 p.a.)

  • Academic Level C: $112,874 - $130,150 p.a. (total package will be in the range $132,063 - $152,276 p.a.)
