Research Assistant - School of Earth and Environmental Sciences

The School of Earth and Environmental Sciences is a vibrant, multidisciplinary School with extensive teaching and research programs covering the fields of Geology, Geography, Environmental Management, Occupational Health and Safety Sciences and Planning. The Spatial Data Analytics Lab sits within the Queensland Centre for Population Research and conducted cutting-edge research in spatial data mining, spatial analytics, urban modelling and geo-simulation, visualisation and data solutions, with research funding from the Australian Research Council (ARC) and other funding bodies.

The role

The successful appointee will be engaged as a Research Assistant to work under the supervision of Associate Professor Yan Liu. The successful applicant to work across a range of tasks including (but not limited to); conducting literature reviews, assisting with survey design and execution, collecting, collating and analysing survey data, assisting with report writing and journal articles.

The person

Applicants should possess an undergraduate or Honours degree with a major in GIS, Human Geography, Urban Planning or Social Science disciplines. Applicants should also have good general research skills, a strong methodological background, excellent GIS and analytic skills, very good writing abilities, and the capacity to work with multidisciplinary research teams.

This role is a part-time position; flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

Remuneration

This is a part time, fixed term appointment at HEW Level 5 for 6 months. The role is negotiable at an 0.4 or 0.6 FTE fraction.

For a HEW 5 at 40% the remuneration package will be in the range $25,839.12 - $28.939.58., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 9.5% (total package will be in the range $28,293.83 - $ 31,688.83).
