Postdoctoral Research Fellow - ARC Linkage Project

The School of Earth and Environmental Sciences is a vibrant, multidisciplinary School with extensive teaching and research programs covering the fields of Geology, Geography, Environmental Management, Occupational Health and Safety Sciences and Planning.

The role

The successful appointee will be engaged as a postdoctoral research fellow to to support Prof. Stuart Phinn in an ARC Linkage project “Advancing vegetation classification and mapping to meet conservation needs” with Dr Mitchell Lyons and Prof David Keith (UNSW), Prof Jane Elith (Univ Melbourne) and  and Prof David Warton (UNSW) that is also part of activities within the Joint Remote Sensing Research Program.

The person

Applicants should possess a PhD in the area of biophysical remote sensing of vegetation properties, with extensive experience integrating field and image data sets. Applicants must also demonstrate high quality and subject appropriate publications in this field, and a strong track record of successfully developing and implementing research proposals in this area. Applicants must also posses very good writing abilities, and the capacity to work with multidisciplinary research teams and external stakeholders.

Remuneration

This is a fixed term appointment at Academic level A.

Applications can either nominate themselves for a full time role for 12 months, or a part time 50% appointment for 24 months.

The full-time remuneration package will be in the range $64,533.50 - $87,535.13 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $75,504.20 - $102,416.10 p.a.).
