The University of Auckland is New Zealand’s leading University and supports over 41,000 students.  Accommodation provides a safe and supportive residential study environment for over 3,000 students. 

Due to growth in the accommodation department, one Area Assistant position is available to provide reception and administrative assistance to our Accommodation management teams.

The role

Reporting to the Area Manager, this position is responsible for:

  • Supporting the administrative duties throughout a residential area, and providing administrative support to the Area Manager when needed

  • Being the “face” of accommodation for visiting students and families. Interacting with and supporting students is an essential component of the role

  • Working closely with the wider accommodation team, particularly administrators

  • Database and spreadsheet management

  • Collection of residential fees as required

  • General administration/customer service related to the running of Accommodation

The ability to work successfully as part of a team is essential, as is the capacity to work independently and contribute to the experience of the students living in Accommodation. 

This role is an ideal entry-level role for a candidate wanting to develop their administration skills with an aptitude for communication skills, and who is customer service-focused.

This role is Professional Staff Level 2, paying a salary of approximately $40,000 per annum.
