The Process/Packaging Engineering Specialist is responsible for the following:

- Facilitates ECM meetings.

- Facilitates/leads PCR sub-team meetings to establish new product configurations and/or new production packaging processes.

- Initiates PCR's, assigns tasks to stakeholders, and tracks PCRs to closure.

- Serves as site-level project manager to implement component and manufacturing source changes ranging from simple to moderate changes to complex, high-priority, high-visibility launches with significant above-site/off-site involvement.

- Develops mechanical templates to support new and/or revised labeling and processes resulting from Master Labeling Files and Label Specifications changes. Assesses new or revised purchase specifications and creates component descriptions.

- Provides technical review and approval for new and revised printed component artwork.

- Customizes Bill of Materials for rework and recircularization of product and red-lines shop paperwork accordingly.

- Conducts Annual Product Reviews of PCRs and determines impact on the product packaging process.

- Creates and applies technical solutions in support of ongoing packaging operations.

- Develops packaging process descriptions (PPD) and new or revised bills of materials (BOMs) for production and to support stability, machine trial, MVTR and shipping studies.

- Works closely with Engineers, Quality, Stability, Packaging Technology, Labeling Services, Planning, and Scheduling to align process changes with equipment and component capabilities within NDA parameters and to support PAI Readiness activities, new product introductions, site optimizations and marketing driven initiatives.

This role is recognized as a subject matter expert on PD Engineering functions and makes recommendations for decisions. Originates/Initiates projects with wide scope and higher liability at the site level. Recognizes and leads implementation of the vision. Leads implementation of new products and new processes. Delivers training. Interprets local guidelines

Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement:

- B.S. Degree Required

- 3 years of Operations experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience and Skills:

- Operational knowledge of packaging processes and equipment for plastic bottles and coldform/thermoform blisters as related to component and labeling machinability.

- Demonstrated skills in technical writing, project management and proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Word required.

- Detail-oriented with good communication, customer service, negotiation and teamwork skills required.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

- 3+ years of project management experience

- Working knowledge of Merck policies & procedures, environmental, safety standards and guidelines, GMP's, governmental regulations (e.g. OSHA), industry and engineering standards.

- Working knowledge of Materials Requirements Planning System (SAP) and interrelationship with the Planning and Scheduling functions.
