The role

The successful appointee will be responsible for undertaking undergraduate and postgraduate teaching including course coordination and program development; research higher degree student supervision; research; and professional activities in the field of Data Management with a focus on Information Security.  You will primarily contribute to the University’s new cyber-security initiative and research work is expected to be focused on the intersection of data analytics and cyber-security. The position is jointly supported by AusCERT a leading Cyber Emergency Response Team for Australia located in UQ (https://www.auscert.org.au).

The person

Applicants should possess a PhD in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field.  A demonstrated understanding of modern data management methods and familiarity with advanced database systems, information retrieval and statisticalor maching learning techniques is essential.  You should also have a strong desire to develop and/or grow  a successful and highly-productive research career, good general research skills, a strong methodological background and the capacity to work with multidisciplinary research teams.

We welcome applications from computer scientists with expertise in databases, data quality, machine learning, data management, multimedia and pattern recognition, social media analytics, big data foundations and infrastructure, statistics, privacy, trust and security.

This role is a full-time position; however flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

Remuneration

This is a full-time continuing appointment at at Academic Level B or Level C.  Appointment level will be commensurate to qualficiations and experience.

For Academic Level B the remuneration package will be in the range $92,143 - $109,419 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $107,807 - $128,020 p.a.).

For Academic Level C the remuneration package will be in the range $112,874 - $130,151 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $132,063 - $152,277 p.a.).
