The Institute for Teaching and Learning Innovation (ITaLI) is taking a leading role in teaching and learning professional education and innovation. ITaLI is an integrated teaching, research and service delivery centre for teaching and learning practices at UQ. ITaLI seeks to establish and maintain a flexible operating structure to drive and support innovation and excellence.

Directed by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Teaching and Learning) [PVC(T&L)], ITaLI provides leadership, engagement and advocacy in educational innovation, teaching excellence and learning analytics, and aims to transform teaching and learning across the University through the delivery of faculty and executive prioritised, teaching and learning projects and services. ITaLI addresses critical areas of unmet need in teaching and learning by bridging the gap between the exponentially-expanding discipline of higher education teaching and the increasing complexity of teaching to assist University teaching staff and improve the learning experience of students.  

The role

To support academic staff to progress toward the goals of the UQ Student Strategy through designing curriculum, assessment, and active and flexible learning pedagogies to enhance teaching quality in courses and course-work programs.

Duties

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Learning Design

  • Provide leadership on the application of appropriate pedagogic and curriculum design to the development of innovative and successful courses in the service of enhancing the student learning experience. 


  • Advise and assist academic staff to design, develop, implement and evaluate pedagogical, curriculum and assessment approaches, both online and face-to-face.

  • Advise and assist staff to plan, develop and prepare learning and teaching resources.

  • Collaborate with the Institute for Teaching and Learning Innovation, Library and professional and academic staff across all faculties to implement and enhance institutional approaches and support for enhancing student learning and the student experience.

The person

The ideal candidates will have a Tertiary qualification in a relevant academic discipline with at least 4 years subsequent relevant experience; or extensive experience in Education/ Instructional Design field; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

Additionally applicants will have expertise in learning design, particularly with active and flexible pedagogies and collaborative curriculum design, an understanding of authentic assessment and experience in designing assessment for, of and as learning, and high level skills in one or more specific disciplines relevant to learning design, for example: design-based thinking, assessment design, STEM education, multimedia learning, communities of practice and university teaching.

Remuneration

Full-time, fixed term appointment for 3 years at HEW Level 7. The remuneration package will be in the range $81,883.65 – $89,559.15 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17%.
