We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Tax and Finance Compliance Manager to join our finance compliance team.

With 3 direct reports and reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will manage tax compliance within the University and support and influence processes to monitor compliance with University Finance policies, procedures and processes.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and developing the Finance Compliance Team;
  • Developing and maintaining up to date Finance policies, procedures and guidelines;
  • Providing expert advice and service on tax management, policies and procedures and related accounting matters;
  • Managing the Finance in-house compliance testing to ensure they are completed, reviewed and action as necessary;
  • Managing the Unusual Transaction Analysis (UTA) finance tests;
  • Assisting with monthly and annual financial reporting processes;
  • Providing support to the Group Financial Controller and Chief Financial Officer.

The successful candidate will have the following attributes:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of internal controls and indirect taxes;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to easily build relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing and coaching staff;
  • Superior analytical skills;
  • Solutions-driven;
  • Ability to meet regular and demanding deadlines;
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a major in accounting;
  • Membership with a professional accounting institute (Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand or equivalent;
  • High standard of computer literacy with advanced Excel skills;
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials and previous experience of working in large complex organisations is an advantage.
