An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the world leading Bone and Joint Research Programme at the Medical Research Council Lifecourse Epidemiology Unit (MRC LEU), University of Southampton. The MRC LEU mission is to promote human health using lifecourse epidemiological methods, integrating observational evidence, understanding of mechanism and implementation of intervention studies.
The MRC LEU, University of Southampton, is at the international forefront of developmental origins of disease research, with full MRC funding secured 2015 to 2020. It has an internationally competitive track record in both observational and intervention studies, and well-established links with the University's Institute of Developmental Science, NIHR Nutrition Biomedical Research Centre and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. The Bone and Joint programme, rated 9.5/10 in the last MRC renewal, led by Professors Cooper, Dennison and Harvey, has a highly competitive programme H-index of 119, with a total cite count >40,000. The unit has adjunctive support from Wellcome Trust, British Heart Foundation, Arthritis Research UK, NIHR and other funders.
The successful applicant will be responsible for providing administrative support for: the management of MRC LEU cohorts such as the Hertfordshire Cohort, Southampton Women’s Survey and MAVIDOS trial; literature searches and preparation of manuscripts and presentations; preparation of applications for funding, liaison with other research groups and collaborators, amongst other research administration duties.
The appointment is for one year in the first instance with the possibility of an extension for a further 2 years, subject to satisfactory performance reviews.
