Are you an academic with proven abilities to carry out research-led teaching in medieval studies, with a particular focus on medieval medicine and religious history? Do you have the ability to motivate and inspire students? Are you keen to contribute to the world-class Institute for Medieval Studies?

You will carry out teaching in medieval studies, with a particular focus on the history of medicine in religious and cultural contexts. In addition to contributing to the delivery of ‘Medieval and Renaissance Europe’, a core level one module, you will also be expected to teach a range of modules across our undergraduate and master’s programmes, including MEDV1080: Religion and Culture in the Western Middle Ages; MEDV3310: Medieval Magic; and HIST5875 Lifecycles: Birth, Death and Illness in the Middle Ages. You will also be encouraged to supervise MA dissertation students within the Institute for Medieval Studies, and to contribute to its culture of interdisciplinary research and research-led teaching.

You will have a PhD in Medieval Studies or History or a cognate discipline (or be close to submission) and relevant teaching experience.
