Job Details
Job Purpose
The post-holder will provide the overall leadership and management of the careers information provision for our students and graduates of the University, including face to face and distance learner services and systems including online platforms and e-learning modes of delivery. The post-holder will provide strategic management to the Information Team and will work across all of the teams within Careers Network, including: Employer Relations, Enterprise, Guidance, Operations, Personal Skills Award, and Work Experience.
Person Specification
• Proven experience of leadership in an information environment.
• Minimum of three years’ experience of leading and managing staff within the last six years.
• Experience of developing and implementing operational plans from strategic plans (including contributing to strategic areas for wider service plans).
• Experience of developing and delivering information resources for a variety of audiences and via an assortment of platforms (e.g. face-to-face and online).
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal in one-on-one and group settings.
• Evidence and examples of successful project management skills.
• Experience and enthusiasm for working with higher education students and understanding and challenges they face.
• Proven ability of networking to implement change.
• Exceptional organisational skills and an ability to manage competing priorities and demands.
• Experience of creating and implementing innovations in service delivery (online and face-to-face), and establishing key performance indicators.
• Significant knowledge of IT systems: experience of web development, e-learning platforms, technical design skills, databases, and electronic searching.
• Experience of project management skills, including: e-learning, pedagogical requirements specification, design development, testing and maintenance.
• Knowledge of customer management and information systems and an ability to evaluate intelligence and present the information in an accessible way.
• Understanding of the differing information needs of students, including campus-based, distance and part-time learners, undergraduate and postgraduate scholars, home and international students and graduates.
• Experience of training small and large groups.
• Extensive knowledge of systems and services within HEIs and careers services nationally.
• Comprehensive understanding of the graduate careers and labour market.
• High level of personal initiative and self-motivation.
• Adaptable, flexible, and a positive attitude to change.
• Empathy with client groups and a commitment to diversity.
Desirable:
• Experience of programming languages such as HTML, XML, PHP, CSS and Javascript.
