Our mission in GpGx is to identify and functionally validate novel targets anchored in Human Genetics that will enter Merck’s drug discovery pipeline for therapeutic intervention.

The Primary responsibilities of the candidate include:

- Integrate data from population-scale genetic cohorts as well as diverse types of genetic and non-genetic biomedical data including but not limited to eQTL, pQTL and Epigenome to identify causal Genetics Targets for Cardiometabolic Diseases.
- Formulate and initiate functional validation studies of Genetics Targets in collaboration with experimental scientists within and outside GpGx.
- Work with cross-functional teams including disease area biologists, pharmacologists and chemists for execution of the Genetics targets across early discovery pipeline.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to interface effectively with wide range of subject matter experts in GpGx, Discovery, Clinical and External Communities

- Experience in translating Genetics Findings into functionalization of the target gene to provide insight into biological mechanism.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills

Preferred:

- Background in statistical analysis of functional biology and/or pharmacogenomics.
- Insights into experimental biology and validation experiments with disease relevant in vitro and in vivo model systems.
