We’re searching for an enthusiastic and motivated bench scientist who is looking to advance their career in drug discovery. At Merck Oncology Boston we need a scientist to help develop and execute the cellular experiments that will help us bring new medicines to market. Your primary role will be at the bench, and you should have strong technical skills in cell handling & assay development. We expect that you’ll be interested in expanding your skills, and will be willing to learn immunology-specific and oncology-specific techniques. Other important qualities we expect you to have are the ability to work well with others, work well in a team, handle multiple conflicting priorities and communicate effectively. Certain skills/experience are a big plus – knowledge of flow cytometry, Nanostring, familiarity with 96w and 384w format and/or automated liquid handling, as is experience in pharmaceutical or biotech environments.

The specific responsibilities of the candidate include but are not limited to:

- Independently design, conduct, interpret and report in vitro studies using a wide range of established methodologies.
- Ensure data generated is communicated in a concise, easy to understand manner to the appropriate teams and stakeholders.
- Contribute scientifically to drug discovery research programs, including identification and validation of novel targets.
- Collaborate with members from other functional areas, including medicinal chemistry, biologics, in vivo and in vitro pharmacology and translational sciences.
- Work with external academic, biotechnology, and contract research organizations

Qualifications

Education:

- BS/MS in biology or related degree

Required:

- Experience in cellular assay development, tissue culture, primary human and mouse cell culture, RT-PCR or Nanostring, flow cytometry heavily preferred.
